4 Our kings, our princes, our priests, and our fathers have not kept thy law, and have not minded thy commandments, and thy testimonies which thou hast testified among them.


And in this place again: If they shall enter into my rest.


3 For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.


5 And thou gavest them bread from heaven in their hunger, and broughtest forth water for them out of the rock in their thirst, and thou saidst to them that they should go in, and possess the land, upon which thou hadst lifted up thy hand to give it them.


Let my doctrine gather as the rain, let my speech distil as the dew, as a shower upon the herb, and as drops upon the grass.


For we, who have believed, shall enter into rest; as he said: As I have sworn in my wrath; If they shall enter into my rest; and this indeed when the works from the foundation of the world were finished.


9 And they stoned Stephen, invoking, and saying: Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.


For I am speaking now this long time, crying out against iniquity, and I often proclaim devistation: and the word of the Lord is made a reproach to me, and a derision all the day.


Lift up thy eyes on high: and see where thou hast not prostuted thyself: Thou didst sit in the ways, waiting for them as a robber in the wilderness: and thou hast polluted the land with thy fornications, and with thy wickedness.


8 They have possessed thy holy people as nothing: our enemies have trodden down thy sanctuary.


And I said: I have laboured in vain, I have spent my strength without cause and in vain: therefore my judgment is with the Lord, and my work with my God.


2 Hearken to me, O Jacob, and thou Israel whom I call: I am he, I am the first, and I am the last.


Corrupt men bring a city to ruin: but wise men turn away wrath.


3 They had quickly done, they forgot his works: and they waited not for his counsels.


5 The enemies of the Lord have lied to him: and their time shall be for ever.


8 And all the vessels of the house of the Lord, great and small, and the treasures of the temple and of the king, and of the princes he carried away to Babylon.


3 And much people were assembled to Jerusalem to celebrate the solemnity of the unleavened bread in the second month:


9 But neither did Juda itself keep the commandments of the Lord their God: but they walked in the errors of Israel, which they had wrought.


0 And he said: I will hide my face from them, and will consider what their last end shall be: for it is a perverse generation, and unfaithful children.


And I made an ark of setim wood And when I had hewn two tables of stone like the former, I went up into the mount, having them in my hands.


8 And I fell down before the Lord se before, forty days and nights neither eating bread, nor drinking water, for all your sins, which you had committed against the Lord, and had provoked him to wrath:


1 And when forty days were passed, and as many nights, the Lord gave me the two tables of stone, the tables of the covenant,


These are the precepts, and ceremonies, and judgments, which the Lord your God commanded that I should teach you, and that you should do them in the land into which you pass over to possess it:


2 Let not the Egyptians say, I beseech thee: He craftily brought them out, that he might kill them in the mountains, and destroy them from the earth: let thy anger cease, and be appeased upon the wickedness of thy people.


And all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness.


4 And I will cause ot cease out of the cities of Juda, and out of the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of joy, and the coice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride: for the land shall be desolate.


4 And I will make thee desolate, and a reproach among the nations that are round about thee, in the sight of every one that passeth by.


1 My sons, be not negligent: the Lord hath chosen you to stand before him, and to minister to him, and to worship him, and to burn incense to him.
