9 4 And from the day, in which the king commanded me to be governor in the land of Juda, from the twentieth year even to the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes the king, for twelve years, I and my brethren did not eat the yearly allowance that was due to the governors.

1 And afterwards he shall go out with his children, and shall return to his kindred and to the possession of his fathers,


1 For unto this are you called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving you an example that you should follow his steps.


9 But when David saw his servants whispering, he understood that the child was dead: and he said to his servants: Is the child dead? They answered him: He is dead.


4 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and might cleanse to himself a people acceptable, a pursuer of good works.


3 Do not still drink water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake, and thy frequent infirmities.


For what if some of them have not believed? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect? God forbid.


9 And Peter rising up, went with them. And when he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber. And all the widows stood about him weeping, and shewing him the coats and garments which Dorcas made them.


8 And you shall dwell in the land which I gave to your fathers, and you shall be my people, and I will be your God.

A false witness shall not be unpunished: and he that speaketh lies, shall perish.

It is not good to accept the person of the wicked, to decline from the truth of judgment.


As silver is tried by fire, and gold in the furnace: so the Lord trieth the hearts.


And it came to pass, when Sanaballat, and Tobias, and Gossem the Arabian, and the rest of our enemies, heard that I had built the wall, and that there was no breach left in it, (though at that time I had not set up the doors in the gates,)


And we prayed to our God, and set watchmen upon the wall day and night against them.


9 Why have you kicked away my victims, and my gifts which I commanded to be offered in the temple: and thou hast rather honoured thy sons than me, to eat the firstfruits of every sacrifice of my people Israel?


9 If you be peaceable men, let one of your brethren be bound in prison: and go ye your ways and carry the corn that you have bought, unto your houses.


1 Abraham answered: I thought with myself, saying: Perhaps there is not the fear of God in this place: and they will kill me for the sake of my wife:


5 But the former governors that had been before me, were chargeable to the people, and took of them in bread, and wine, and in money every day forty sides: and their officers also oppressed the people. But I did not so for the fear of God.


The praise of a canticle for David. He that dwelleth in the aid of the most High, shall abide under the protection of the God of Jacob.
