4 I write not these things to confound you; but I admonish you as my dearest children.


3 But the Lord shall laugh at him : for he foreseeth that his day shall come.

7 But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me, that by me the preaching may be accomplished, and that all the Gentiles may hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.


Abraham begot Isaac. And Isaac begot Jacob. And Jacob begot Judas and his brethren.


And a voice came out from the throne, saying: Give praise to our God, all ye his servants; and you that fear him, little and great.


And now hear these things, thou that art delicate, and dwellest confidently, that sayest in thy heart: I am, and there is none else besides me: I shall not sit as a widow, and I shall not know barrenness.


Thy hand destroyed the Gentiles, and thou plantedst them : thou didst afflict the people and cast them out.


3 And in it he hath prepared the instruments of death, he hath made ready his arrows for them that burn.


5 And therefore I am troubled at his presence, and when I consider him I am made pensive with fear.

5 I will lay waste the mountains and hills, and will make all their grass to wither: and I will turn rivers into islands, and will dry up the standing pools.


4 Who hath given Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to robbers? hath not the Lord himself, against whom we have sinned? And they would not walk in his ways, and they have not hearkened to his law.


All ye beasts of the field come to devour, all ye beasts of the forest.


Hear ye the words of this covenant, and speak to the men of Juda, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem,


8 They are vain works, and worthy to be laughed at, in the time of their visitation they shall perish.


For indeed my words are without a lie, and perfect knowledge shall be proved to thee.


How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, and that preacheth peace: of him that sheweth forth good, that preacheth salvation, that saith to Sion: Thy God shall reign!


5 Therefore thus saith the Lord concerning the prophets that prophecy in my name, whom I did not send, that say: Sword and famine shall not be in this land: By sword and famine shall those prophets be consumed.
