Israel a vine full of branches, the fruit is agreeable to it: according to the multitude of his fruit he hath multiplied altars, according to the plenty of his land he hath abounded with idols.


2 To whom he said: This is my rest, refresh the weary, and this is my refreshing: and they would not hear.


1 And it shall come to pass, that in that day the Lord shall visit upon the host of heaven on high, and upon the kings of the earth, on the earth.


4 In the time of the evening, behold there shall be trouble: the morning shall come, and he shall not be: this is the portion of them that have wasted us, and the lot of them that spoiled us.


Let not the swift flee away, nor the strong think to escape: they are overthrown, and fallen down, towards the north by the river Euphrates.


8 Why is my sorrow become perpetual, and my wound desperate so as to refuse to be healed? it is become to me as the falsehood of deceitful waters that cannot be trusted.


They are become as amorous horses and stallions, every one neighed after his neighbor's wife.


O LORD, thou art my God, I will exalt thee, and give glory to thy name: for thou hast done wonderful things, thy designs of old faithful, amen.


3 And there shall be still a tithing therein, and she shall turn, and shall be made a show as a turpentine tree, and as an oak that spreadeth its branches: that which shall stand therein, shall be a holy seed.


The Lord is thy keeper, the Lord is thy protection upon thy right hand.


0 And I will send among them the sword, and the famine, and the pestilence: till they be consumed out of the land which I gave to them, and their fathers.


8 But the flesh shall fall to thy use, as the consecrated breast, and the right shoulder shall be thine.


3 Love not sleep, lest poverty oppress thee: open thy eyes, and be filled with bread.


Shall I not visit for these things, sayeth the Lord? and shall not my soul take revenge on such a nation?
