3 And he was in the desert forty days and forty nights, and was tempted by Satan; and he was with beasts, and the angels ministered to him.


3 I am come in the name of my Father, and you receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him you will receive.


1 He that cometh from above, is above all. He that is of the earth, of the earth he is, and of the earth he speaketh. He that cometh from heaven, is above all.


4 And he cried, and said: Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, to cool my tongue: for I am tormented in this flame.


5 And as the people were of opinion, and all were thinking in their hearts of John, that perhaps he might be the Christ;


Blessed are the clean of heart: for they shall see God.


Who having heard the king, went their way; and behold the star which they had seen in the east, went before them, until it came and stood over where the child was.


1 And he answering, said to them: He that hath two coats, let him give to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do in like manner.
