7 She gleaned therefore in the field till evening: and beating out with a rod and threshing what she had gleaned, she found about the measure of an ephi of barley, that is, three bushels:


1 For he hath given his angels charge over thee; to keep thee in all thy ways.


5 But as for me, I will appear before thy sight in justice: I shall be satisfied when thy glory shall appear.


For they shall shortly wither away as grass, and as the green herbs shall quickly fall.


1 Yet in thy very many mercies thou didst not utterly consume them, nor forsake them: because thou art a merciful and gracious God.


For they have whetted their tongues like a sword; they have bent their bow a bitter thing,


So Jeremias called Baruch the son of Nerias: and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremias all the words of the Lord, which he spoke to him, upon the roll of a book.


8 Behold, you house shall be left to you, desolate.


1 And the king went in to see the guests: and he saw there a man who had not on a wedding garment.


0 For I tell you, that unless your justice abound more than that of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.


0 They shall walk after the Lord, he shall roar as a lion: because he shall roar, and the children of the sea shall fear.


Arise, O my glory, arise psaltery and harp: I will arise early.


For even when we were with you, we foretold you that we should suffer tribulations, as also it is come to pass, and you know.


2 And I will take the remnant of Juda that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt, and to dwell there: and they shall be all consumed in the land of Egypt: they shall fall by the sword, and by the famine: and they shall be consumed from the least even to the greatest, by the sword, and by the famine shall they die: and they shall be for an execration, and for a wonder, and for a curse, and for a reproach.


4 For many are called, but few are chosen.


2 And the angel of the Lord answered, and said: O Lord of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem, and on the cities of Juda, with which thou hast been angry? this is now the seventieth year.


In the womb he supplanted his brother: and by his strength he had success with an angel.


And all nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son's son: till the time come for his land and himself: and many nations and great kings shall serve him.


6 Thus saith the Lord: Stand ye on the ways, and see and ask for the old paths which is the good way, and walk ye in it: and you shall find refreshment for your souls. And they said: we will not walk.


2 For my foolish people have not known me: they are foolish and senseless children: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.


It is commonly said: If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and marry another man, shall he return to her any more? shall not that woman be polluted, and defiled? but thou hast prostituted thyself to many lovers: nevertheless return to me, saith the Lord, and I will receive thee.


0 Who is there among you that feareth the Lord, that heareth the voice of his servant, that hath walked in darkness, and hath no light? let him hope in the name of the Lord, and lean upon his God.


5 And he said to me: The waters which thou sawest, where the harlot sitteth, are peoples, and nations, and tongues.


I know what I will do, that when I shall be removed from the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.


2 The harp, and the lyre, and the timbrel, and the pipe, and wine are in your feasts: and the work of the Lord you regard not, nor do you consider the works of his hands.


9 And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me all days : and that it may be well with them, and with their children after them.


But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land did obey the words of the Lord, that he spoke in the hand of Jeremias the prophet.


Thy calf, O Samaria, is cast off, my wrath is kindled against them. How long will they be incapable of being cleansed ?


9 For I say to you, you shall not see me henceforth till you say: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
