4 And when Paul was beginning to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews: If it were some matter of injustice, or an heinous deed, O Jews, I should with reason bear with you.


But they neglected, and went their own ways, one to his farm, and another to his merchandise.


By whom we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith, in all nations, for his name;


Let your manners be without covetousness, contented with such things as you have; for he hath said: I will not leave thee, neither will I forsake thee.


2 I will declare thy name to my brethren; in the midst of the church will I praise thee.


For this cause also, I, forbearing no longer, sent to know your faith: lest perhaps he that tempteth should have tempted you, and our labour should be made vain.


6 And when we were come to Rome, Paul was suffered to dwell by himself, with a soldier that kept him.


5 And to this agree the words of the prophets, as it is written:


And the tempter coming said to him: If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.


And there shall be one day, which is known to the Lord, not day nor night : and in the time of the evening there shall be light.


And they shall say to him: What are these wounds in the midst of thy hands? And he shall say: With these I was wounded in the house of them that loved me.


And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw it not: but an exceeding great terror fell upon them, and they fled away, and hid themselves.


I have cried to the Lord with my voice: and he hath heard me from his holy hill.


3 My elect shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth in trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the Lord, and their posterity with them.


2 Jesus saith to them: Have you never read in the Scriptures: The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner? By the Lord this has been done; and it is wonderful in our eyes.


The kingdom of heaven is likened to a king, who made a marriage for his son.
