1 For the Lord hath redeemed Jacob, and delivered him out of the hand of one that was mightier than he.


0 Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God, and serve him only: to him thou shalt adhere, and shalt swear by his name.


2 That any one might flee to them who should kill his neighbour unwillingly, and was not his enemy a day or two before, and that he might escape to some one of these cities:


Shall a man afflict God? for you afflict me. And you have said: Wherein do we afflict thee? in tithes and in firstfruits.


Lift up thy eyes on high: and see where thou hast not prostuted thyself: Thou didst sit in the ways, waiting for them as a robber in the wilderness: and thou hast polluted the land with thy fornications, and with thy wickedness.


3 For my people have done two evils. They have forsaken me, the fountain of living water, and have digged to themselves cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

4 Esau having heard his father's words, roared out with a great cry: and being in a great consternation, said: Bless me also, my father.


3 And he answering said: Two nations are in thy womb, and two peoples shall be divided out of thy womb, and one people shall overcome the other, and the elder shall serve the younger.


7 But he said: He that shewed mercy to him. And Jesus said to him: Go, and do thou in like manner.
