1 For we forecast what may be good not only before God, but also before men.


If you will not hear, and if you will not lay it to heart, to give glory to my name, saith the Lord of hosts: I will send poverty upon you, and will curse your blessings, yea I will curse them, because you have not laid it to heart.


7 And he measured the wall thereof an hundred and forty-four cubits, the measure of a man, which is of an angel.


4 And he said also to the multitudes: When you see a cloud rising from the west, presently you say: A shower is coming: and so it happeneth:


My covenant was with him of life and peace: and I gave him fear: and he feared me, and he was afraid before my name.


7 And it shall come to pass, that he that shall not go up of the families of the land to Jerusalem, to adore the King, the Lord of hosts, there shall be no rain upon them.


8 For thus saith the Lord: Behold I will cast away far off the inhabitants of the land at this time: and I will afflict them, so that they may be found.


Will God then cast off for ever? or will he never be more favourable again?


The princes of the people are gathered together, with the God of Abraham: for the strong gods of the earth are exceedingly exalted.


And I heard the angel of the waters saying: Thou art just, O Lord, who art, and who wast, the Holy One, because thou hast judged these things:


Be not led away with various and strange doctrines. For it is best that the heart be established with grace, not with meats; which have not profited those that walk in them.


I give thanks to God, whom I serve from my forefathers with a pure conscience, that without ceasing, I have a remembrance of thee in my prayers, night and day.


2 And he hath confirmed his words which he spoke against us, and against our princes that judged us, that he would bring in upon us a great evil, such as never was under all the heaven, according to that which hath been done in Jerusalem.


Then came in all the king's wise men, but they could neither read the writing, nor declare the interpretation to the king.


8 Come down from thy glory, and sit in thirst, O dwelling of the daughter of Dibon: because the spoiler of Moab is come up to thee, he hath destroyed thy bulwarks.


For they seek me from day to day, sad desire to know my ways, as a nation that hath done justice, and hath not forsaken the judgment of their God: they ask of me the judgments of justice: they are willing to approach to God.


3 And as the Lord rejoiced upon you before doing good to you, and multiplying you: so he shall rejoice destroying and bringing you to nought, so that you shall be taken away from the land which thou shalt go in to possess.


2 If my father shall feel me, and perceive it, I fear lest he will think I would have mocked him, and I shall bring upon me a curse instead of a blessing.


6 And his disciples went their way, and came into the city; and they found as he had told them, and they prepared the pasch.


And the foolish said to the wise: Give us of your oil, for our lamps are gone out.


3 You have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thy enemy.


7 And they shall be my special possession, saith the Lord of hosts, in the day that I do judgment: and I will spare them, as a man spareth his son that serveth him.


0 Forty years long was I offended with that generation, and I said: These always err in heart.


Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face.


We have received thy mercy, O God, in the midst of thy temple.


And the damsel was exceeding beautiful, and she slept with the king: and served him, but the king did not know her.


6 And I will deliver them into the hand of them that seek their lives, into the hand of Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon, and into the hand of his servants: and afterwards it shall be inhabited, as in the days of old, saith the Lord.

Her prophets are senseless men without faith: her priests have polluted the sanctuary, they have acted unjustly against the law.


Therefore have I also made you contemptible, and base before all people, as you have not kept my ways, and have accepted persons in the law.
