1 From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias, who was slain between the alter and the temple: Yea I say to you, It shall be required of this generation.


2 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, (as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but much more now in my absence,) with fear and trembling work out your salvation.


4 Woe to you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites: because you devour the houses of widows, praying long prayers. For this you shall receive the greater judgment.


And they asked him, saying: Master, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when they shall begin to come to pass?


For certain men are secretly entered in, (who were written of long ago unto this judgment,) ungodly men, turning the grace of our Lord God into riotousness, and denying the only sovereign Ruler, and our Lord Jesus Christ.


0 Behold, it is planted: shall it prosper then? shall it not be dried up when the burning wind shall touch it, and shall it not wither in the furrows where it grew?


2 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.


All my words are just, there is nothing wicked nor perverse in them.


7 So she wept before him the seven days of the feast: and at length on the seventh day as she was troublesome to him, he expounded it. And she immediately told her countrymen.


4 As clouds, and wind, when no rain followeth, so is the man that boasteth, and doth not fulfil his promises.
