And I will bring them, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God in truth and in justice.


1 And you defile yourselves with all your: idols unto this day, in the offering of your gifts, when you make your children pass through the fire: and shall I answer you, O house of Israel? As I live, saith the Lord God, I will not answer you.


2 Ask of the days of old, that have been before thy time from the day that God created man upon the earth, from one end of heaven to the other end thereof, if ever there was done the like thing, or it hath been known at any time,


3 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:


8 All these things have come upon us, yet we have not forgotten thee : and we have not done wickedly in they covenant.


2 Amen, I say to you, this generation shall not pass away, till all things be fulfilled.


Remember, O Lord, what is come upon us: consider and behold our reproach.


4 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, for I am the Lord that exercise mercy, and judgment, and justice in the earth: for these things please me, saith the Lord.

He built the cities which Hiram had given to Solomon, and caused the children of Israel to dwell there.


And the king said to me: Why is thy countenance sad, seeing thou dost not appear to be sick? this is not without cause, but some evil, I know not what, is in thy heart. And I was seized with an exceeding great fear:


4 They did not destroy the nations of which the Lord spoke unto them.


5 And when you stretch forth your hands, I will turn away my eyes from you: and when you multiply prayer, I will not hear: for your hands are full of blood.


How do you say: We are wise, and the law of the Lord is with us? Indeed the lying pen of the scribes hath wrought falsehood.


Yea, the hind also brought forth in the field, and left it, because there was no grass.


2 Shall iron be allied with the iron from the north, and the brass?


8 Hearing I heard Ephraim when he went into captivity: thou hast chastised me, and I was instructed, as a young bullock unaccustomed to the yoke. Convert me, and I shall be converted, for thou art the Lord my God.


0 Therefore the fathers shall eat the sons in the midst of thee, and the sons shall eat their fathers: and I will execute judgments in thee, and I will scatter thy whole remnant into every wind.


2 That they may possess the remnant of Edom, and all nations, because my name is invoked upon them: saith the Lord that doth these things.


1 For they are thy people, and thy inheritance, whom thou hast brought out of the land of Egypt, from the midst of the furnace of iron.


4 They took away also the pots of brass, and the mazers, and the forks, and the cups, and the mortars, and all the vessels of brass with which they ministered.


Remember the word that thou commandedst to Moses thy servant, saying: If you shall transgress, I will scatter you abroad among the nations:


3 Were sent by the king's messengers to all provinces, to kill and destroy all the Jews, both young and old, little children, and women, in one day, that is, on the thirteenth of the twelfth month, which is called Adar, and to make a spoil of their goods.


9 And our heart hath not turned back : neither hast thou turned aside our steps from thy way.


Let us go up to Juda, and rouse it up, and draw it away to us, and make the son of Tabeel king in the midst thereof.


5 For a voice of one declaring from Dan, and giving notice of the idol from mount Ephraim.


1 And they healed the breach of the daughter of my people disgracefully, saying Peace, peace: when there was no peace.


Teth. Her filthiness is on her feet, and she hath not remembered her end: she is wonderfully cast down, not having a comforter: behold, O Lord, my affliction, because the enemy is lifted up.


Our inheritance is turned to aliens: our houses to strangers.


8 Therefore say to them: Thus saith the Lord God: Not one word of mine shall be prolonged any more: the word that I shall speak shall be accomplished, saith the Lord God.


4 Give them, O Lord. What wilt thou give them? Give them a womb without children, and dry breasts.
