Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed in the field.


6 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.


Six years thou shalt sow thy field and six years thou shalt prune thy vineyard, and shalt gather the fruits thereof:


1 Or being his enemy, strike; him with his hand, and he die: the striker shall be guilty of murder: the kinsman of him that was slain as soon as he findeth him, shall kill him.


2 These words the Lord spoke to all the multitude of you in the mountain, out of the midst of the fire and the cloud, and the darkness, with a loud voice, adding nothing more: and he wrote them in two tables of stone, which he delivered unto me.


8 And it came to pass on the seventh day that the child died: and the servants of David feared to tell him, that the child was dead. For they said: Behold when the child was yet alive, we spoke to him, and he would not hearken to our voice: how much more will he afflict himself if we tell him that the child is dead?


1 Now Joas was seven years old, when he began to reign.
