Thus saith the Lord: Go, and take a potter's earthen bottle, and take of the ancients of the people, and of the ancients of the priests:


We have received thy mercy, O God, in the midst of thy temple.


4 And I will lay my vengeance upon Edom by the hand of my people Israel: and they shall do in Edom according to my wrath, and my fury: and they shall know my vengeance, saith the Lord God.


Now Phassur the son of Emmur, the priest, who was appointed chief in the house of the Lord, heard Jeremias prophesying these words.


I will not take calves out of thy house: nor he goats out of thy flocks.


Wherefore expect me, saith the Lord, in the day of my resurrection that is to come, for my judgment is to assemble the Gentiles, and to gather the kingdoms: and to pour upon them my indignation, all my fierce anger: for with the fire of my jealousy shall all the earth be devoured.


Your iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together, saith the Lord, who have sacrificed upon the mountains, and have reproached me upon the hills; and I will measure back their first work in their bosom.


0 But to thee this shall be a sign: Eat this year the things that spring of themselves, and in the second year eat fruits: but in the third year sow and reap, and giant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them.


4 I am poured out like water; and all my bones are scattered. My heart is become like wax melting in the midst of my bowels.


7 And Jesus having cried out with a loud voice, gave up the ghost.


7 And some that stood there and heard, said: This man calleth Elias.


Their horses are lighter than leopards, and swifter than evening wolves; and their horsemen shall be spread abroad: for their horsemen shall come from afar, they shall fly as an eagle that maketh haste to eat.


Rejoice not, thou, my enemy, over me, because I am fallen: I shall arise, when I sit in darkness, the Lord is my light.


Aleph. He hath led me, and brought me into darkness, and not into light.


4 Nun. Thy prophets have seen false and foolish things for thee: and they have not laid open thy iniquity, to excite thee to penance: but they have seen for thee false revelations and banishments.


6 Ain. Therefore do I weep, and my eyes run down with water: because the comforter, the relief of my soul, is far from me: my children are desolate because the enemy hath prevailed.


5 Go out of the midst of her, my people: that every man may save his life from the fierce wrath of the Lord.


6 The Lord hath made thee priest in- stead of Joiada the priest, that thou shouldst be ruler in the house of the Lord, over every man that raveth and prophesieth, to put him in the stocks, and into prison.


6 And all the kings of the north far and near, every one against his brother: and all the kingdoms of the earth, which are upon the face thereof: and the king of Sesac shall drink after them.


7 And I took the cup at the hand of the Lord, and I presented it to all the nations to drink of it, to which the Lord sent me:


And he built Palmira in the desert, and he built other strong cities in Emath.


6 And the inhabitants of them, were weak of hand, they trembled and were confounded, they became like the grass of the field, and the green herb on the tops of houses, which withered before it came to maturity.


wonderful in justice. Hear us, O God our saviour, who art the hope of all the ends of the earth, and in the sea afar off.


The Lord said to my Lord: Sit thou at my right hand: Until I make thy enemies thy footstool.


9 This also is come forth from the Lord God of hosts, to make his counsel wonderful, and magnify justice.


5 And I will take away from Moab, saith the Lord, him that offereth in the high places, and that sacrificeth to his gods.


Zain. The Lord hath cast off his altar, he hath cursed his sanctuary: he hath delivered the walls of the towers thereof into the hand of the enemy: they have made a noise in the house of the Lord, as in the day of a solemn feast.


2 And after all thy abominations, and fornications, thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, when thou wast naked, and full of confusion, trodden under foot in thy own blood.


0 According to thy name, O God, so also is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of justice.


4 But as for me, behold I am in your hands: do with me what is good and right in your eyes:


In all your dwelling places. The cities shall be laid waste, and the high places shall be thrown down, and destroyed, and your altars shall be abolished, and shall be broken in pieces: and your idols shall be no more, and your temples shall be destroyed, and your works shall be defaced.


1 Thou hast sacrificed and given my children to them, consecrating them by fire.


0 They sent for men coming from afar, to whom they had sent a messenger: and behold they came: for whom thou didst wash thyself, and didst paint thy eyes, and wast adorned with women's ornaments.


4 Seventy weeks are shortened upon thy people, and upon thy holy city, that transgression may be finished, and sin may have an end, and iniquity may be abolished; and everlasting justice may be brought; and vision and prophecy may be fulfilled; and the saint of saints may be anointed.
