This being told to Joatham, he went and stood on the top of mount Garizim: and lifting up his voice, he cried, and said: Hear me, ye men of Sichem, so may God hear you.


5 Neither did they shew mercy to the house of Jerobaal Gedeon, according to all the good things he had done to Israel.


1 And it answered them: Can I leave my sweetness, and my delicious fruits, and go to be promoted among the other trees?


3 And the Lord sent a very evil spirit between Abimelech and the inhabitants of Sichem: who began to detest him,


2 And he arose, and went to Samaria: and when he was come to the shepherds' cabin in the way,


6 And the Lord said to him: I will be with thee: and thou shalt cut off Madian as one man.


7 She answered and said: My lord, thou didst swear to thy handmaid by the Lord thy God, saying: Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne.


6 But me thy servant, and Sadoc the priest, and Banaias the son of Joiada, and Solomon thy servant he hath not invited.


And you shall compass him round about, having weapons in your hands: and if any man shall enter the precinct of the temple, let him be slain: and you shall be with the king coming in and going out.
