1 If they shall hear and observe, they shall accomplish their days in good, and their years in glory.


Wherefore he saith: Ascending on high, he led captivity captive; he gave gifts to men.


9 To know also the charity of Christ, which surpasseth all knowledge, that you may be filled unto all the fulness of God.


Corrupt men bring a city to ruin: but wise men turn away wrath.


4 The earth is given into the hand of the wicked, he covereth the face of the judges thereof: and if it be not he, who is it then?


Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together in Christ, (by whose grace you are saved,)


7 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and of revelation, in the knowledge of him:


1 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatsoever else you do, do all to the glory of God.


So we being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.


8 But there is a God in heaven that revealeth mysteries, who hath shewn to thee, O king Nabuchodonosor, what is to come to pass in the latter times. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these:


1 He that hath respect to a person in judgment, doth not well: such a man even for a morsel of bread forsaketh the truth.


2 With a mighty hand and a stretched out arm: for his mercy endureth for ever.


1 May the glory of the Lord endure for ever: the Lord shall rejoice in his works.


6 His strength is in his loins, and his force in the navel of his belly.


8 He looseth the belt of kings, and girdeth their loins with a cord.


1 For he knoweth the vanity of men, and when he seeth iniquity, doth he not consider it?


5 My brethren have passed by me, as the torrent that passeth swiftly in the valleys.


7 And Abia and his people slew them with a great slaughter, and there fell wounded of Israel five hundred thousand valiant men.


1 My foot hath followed his steps, I have kept his way, and have not declined from it.


Power and terror are with him, who maketh peace in his high places.


Then Job answered, and said:


8 And he said to man: Behold the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom: and to depart from evil, is understanding.


Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?


Knowest thou the time when the wild goats bring forth among the rocks, or hast thou observed the hinds when they fawn?


Hast thou numbered the months of their conceiving, or knowest thou the time when they bring forth?


2 And the proud one shall fall, he shall fall down, and there shall be none to lift him up: and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall devour all round about him.


And be there dust upon all the land of Egypt: for there shall be boils and swelling blains both in men and beasts in the whole land of Egypt.


0 Thy wind blew and the sea covered them: they sunk as lead in the mighty waters.


1 Do the contrary, and endeavour to cast us out of the possession which thou hast delivered to us.


8 Wise men confess and hide not their fathers.


Behold his hope shall fail him, and in the sight of all he shall be cast down.


7 Israel is saved in the Lord with as eternal salvation: you shall not be con- founded, and you shall not be ashamed for ever and ever.


1 Out of thee shall come forth one that imagineth evil against the Lord, contriving treachery in his mind.
