A psalm for David himself. Be not emulous of evildoers; nor envy them that work iniquity.


Behold thou hast taught many, and thou hast strengthened the weary hands:


1 It stretched forth its branches unto the sea, and its boughs unto the river.


But I am a worm, and no man: the reproach of men, and the outcast of the people.


2 There shall they cry, and he will not hear, because of the pride of evil men.


3 And if thou have not, hear me : hold thy peace, and I will teach thee wisdom.


5 By a dream in a vision by night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, and they are sleeping in their beds :


8 If my land cry against me, and with it the furrows thereof mourn:


0 Therefore art thou surrounded with snares, and sudden fear troubleth thee.


1 Whether his children come to honour or dishonour, he shall not understand.


And dost thou think it meet to open thy eyes upon such an one, and to bring him into judgment with thee?


And that he that hath begun may destroy me, that he may let loose his hand, and cut me off?


1 And thou didst divide the sea before them, and they passed through the midst of the sea on dry land: but their persecutors thou threwest into the depth, as a stone into mighty waters.


9 I should have been as if I had not been, carried from the womb to the grave.


By reason of the multitude of oppressions they shall cry out : and shall wail for the violence of the arm of tyrants.


And shouldst know that I have done no wicked thing, whereas there is no man that can deliver out of thy hand.


1 Thou hast clothed me with skin and flesh: thou hast put me together with bones and sinews:
