Rejoice not, O Israel: rejoice not as the nations do: for thou hast committed fornication against thy God, thou hast loved a reward upon every cornfloor.


2 Therefore behold the days come, saith the Lord, and I will visit her graven things, and in all her land the wounded shall groan:


2 The sea is come up over Babylon: she is covered with the multitude of the waves thereof.


For the day of vengeance is in my heart, the year of my redemption is come.


0 And yet his belly was not filled: and when he hath the things he coveted, he shall not be able to possess them.


1 Doth not the ear discern words, and the palate of him that eateth, the taste?


And he took a potsherd and scraped the corrupt matter, sitting on a dunghill.


2 In all these things Job sinned not by his lips, nor spoke he any foolish thing against God.


0 Then Job rose up, and rent his garments, and having shaven his head fell down upon the ground and worshipped,


6 And he repaired the altar of the Lord, and sacrificed upon it victims, and peace offerings, and praise: and he commanded Juda to serve the Lord the God of Israel.


6 And the Lord said to him: I will be with thee: and thou shalt cut off Madian as one man.


6 The tender and delicate woman, that could not go upon the ground, nor set down her foot for over much niceness and tenderness, will envy her husband who lieth in her bosom, the flesh of her son, and of her daughter,


8 Thou shalt cast much seed into the ground, and gather little: because the locusts shall consume all.


3 Mem. To what shall I compare thee? or to what shall I liken thee, O daughter of Jerusalem? to what shall I equal thee, that I may comfort thee, O virgin daughter of Sion? for great as the sea is thy destruction: who shall heal thee?


7 The heavens shall reveal his iniquity, and the earth shall rise up against him.


5 Dost thou desire to keep the path of ages, which wicked men have trodden?


8 And he loved cursing, and it shall come unto him: and he would not have blessing, and it shall be far from him. And he put on cursing, like a garment: and it went in like water into his entrails, and like oil in his bones.
