Give strong drink to them that are sad: and wine to them that are grieved in mind:


4 I was clad with justice: and I clothed myself with my judgment, as with a robe and a diadem.


0 Their cattle have conceived, and failed not: their cow has calved, and is not deprived of her fruit.


3 And he had seven sons, and three daughters.


1 Who said: All these things have I kept from my youth.


3 And there shall be still a tithing therein, and she shall turn, and shall be made a show as a turpentine tree, and as an oak that spreadeth its branches: that which shall stand therein, shall be a holy seed.


1 Which thou hast commanded by the hand of thy servants the prophets, saying: The land which you go to possess, is an unclean land, according to the uncleanness of the people, and of other lands, with their abominations, who have filled it from mouth to mouth with their filth.


4 And he answered: You have taken away my gods which I have made me and the priest, and all that I have, and do you say: What aileth thee?


1 Deliver me from the hand of my brother Esau, for I am greatly afraid of him: lest perhaps he come, and kill the mother with the children.


7 And Abraham answered, and said: Seeing I have once begun, I will speak to my Lord, whereas I am dust and ashes.


Who will have all men to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of the truth.


6 And he retired into the desert, and prayed.


Hear, O Jesus thou high priest, then and thy friends that dwell before thee, for they are portending men: for behold I WILL BRING MY SERVANT THE ORIENT.


Wast thou angry, O Lord, with the rivers? or was thy wrath upon the rivers? or thy indignation in the sea? Who will ride upon thy horses: and thy chariots are salvation.


He rebuketh the sea, and drieth it up: and bringeth all the rivers to be a desert. Basan languisheth and Carmel: and the dower of Libanus fadeth away.


5 And now, O Lord our God, who hast brought forth thy people out of the land of Egypt with a strong hand, and hast made thee a name as at this day: we have sinned, we have committed iniquity,


3 As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us: and we entreated not thy face, O Lord our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and think on thy truth.


I have spread forth my hands all the day to an unbelieving people, who walk in a way that is not good after their own thoughts.


Enlarge the place of thy tent, and stretch out the skins of thy tabernacles, spare not: lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes.


And he put a new canticle into my mouth, a song to our God. Many shall see, and shall fear : and they shall hope in the Lord.


And Eliu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the kindred of Ram, was angry and was moved to indignation : now he was angry against Job, because he said he was just before God.


Thou hast set their heart far from understanding, therefore they shall not be exalted.


8 and because of all this we ourselves make a covenant, and write it, and our princes, our Levites, and our priests sign it.


So Esdras arose, and made the chiefs of the priests and of the Levites, and all Israel, to swear that they would do according to this word, and they swore.


And when he was come thither, he abode in a cave: and behold the word of the Lord came unto him, and he said to him: What dost thou here, Elias?


5 And the Lord sent a pestilence upon Israel, from the morning unto the time appointed, and there died of the people from Dan to Bersabee seventy thousand men.


0 Clothe thyself with beauty, and set thyself up on high and be glorious, and put on goodly garments.


7 Mem. Who is he that hath commanded a thing to be done, when the Lord commandeth it not?


7 The priest shall view him, and shall judge him to be clean.


Then the Lord answered Job out of a whirlwind, and said :


It was planted in a good ground upon many waters, that it might bring forth branches, and bear fruit, that it might become a large vine.
