Aleph. I am the man that see my poverty by the rod of his indignation.


Wherefore expect me, saith the Lord, in the day of my resurrection that is to come, for my judgment is to assemble the Gentiles, and to gather the kingdoms: and to pour upon them my indignation, all my fierce anger: for with the fire of my jealousy shall all the earth be devoured.


3 And he said: Are these the cities which thou hast given me, brother? And he called them the land of Chabul, unto this day.


And a voice came out from the throne, saying: Give praise to our God, all ye his servants; and you that fear him, little and great.


Rejoice not, thou, my enemy, over me, because I am fallen: I shall arise, when I sit in darkness, the Lord is my light.


Now Phassur the son of Emmur, the priest, who was appointed chief in the house of the Lord, heard Jeremias prophesying these words.


7 A merciful man doth good to his own soul: but he that is cruel casteth off even his own kindred.


How long do you afflict my soul, and break me in pieces with words?


5 So that my soul rather chooseth hanging, and my bones death.


3 He will spare it, and not leave it, and will hide it in his throat.


The stones of it are the place of sapphires, and the clods of it are gold.


If thou sin, what shalt thou hurt him? and if thy iniquities be multiplied, what shalt thou do against him?


4 And I will lay my vengeance upon Edom by the hand of my people Israel: and they shall do in Edom according to my wrath, and my fury: and they shall know my vengeance, saith the Lord God.


Their horses are lighter than leopards, and swifter than evening wolves; and their horsemen shall be spread abroad: for their horsemen shall come from afar, they shall fly as an eagle that maketh haste to eat.
