3 He hath put my brethren far from me, and my acquaintance like strangers have departed from me.


And thou hast adorned thyself for the king with ointment, and hast multiplied thy perfumes. Thou hast sent thy messengers far off, and wast debased even to hell.


6 Who were taken away before their time, and a flood hath overthrown their foundation.


How long do you afflict my soul, and break me in pieces with words?


1 Fears shall terrify him on every side, and shall entangle his feet.


7 Fatness hath covered his face, and the fat hangeth down on his sides.


4 He that taketh away mercy from his friend, forsaketh the fear of the Lord.


And he destroyed the soothsayers, whom the kings of Juda had appointed to sacrifice in the high places in the cities of Juda, and round about Jerusalem: them also that burnt incense to Baal, and to the sun, and to the moon, and to the twelve signs, and to all the host of heaven.


Then Sophar the Naamathite answered, and said:


Shall not he that speaketh much, hear also? or shall a man full of talk be justified?
