And Solomon kept the solemnity at that time seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great congregation, from the entrance of Emath to the torrent of Egypt.


1 Israel hath sinned, and transgressed my covenant: and they have taken of the anathema, and have stolen and lied, and have hidden it among their goods.


7 But they pressed him, till he consented, and said: Send. And they sent fifty men: and they sought three days but found him not.


That the Lord said to Satan: Whence comest thou ? And he answered and said: I have gone round about the earth, and walked through it.


Let that day be turned into darkness, let not God regard it from above, and let not the light shine upon it.


And death shall be chosen rather than life by all that shall remain of this wicked kindred in all places, which are left, to which I have cast them out, saith the Lord of hosts.


1 Fear not, O land, be glad and rejoice: for the Lord hath done great things.


But he answered: Who is the Lord, that I should hear his voice, and let Israel go? I know not the Lord, neither will I let Israel go.
