And he did that which was evil in the eyes of the Lord, according to all that Joakim had done.


5 The merchants of these things, who were made rich, shall stand afar off from her, for fear of her torments, weeping and mourning.


4 The Lord of hosts hath sworn by himself, saying : I will fill thee with men as with locusts, and they shall lift up a joyful shout against thee.


8 As I live, (saith the King, whose name is the Lord of hosts,) as Thabor is among the mountains, and as Carmel by the sea, so shall he come.


4 The ancients have ceased from the gates: the young men from the choir of the singers.


2 Therefore behold the days come, saith the Lord, and I will visit her graven things, and in all her land the wounded shall groan:


2 And with thee I will break in pieces man and woman, and with thee I will break in pieces the old man and the child, and with thee I will break in pieces the young man and the virgin:


9 The portion of Jacob is not like them: for he that made all things he it is, and Israel is the sceptre of his inheritance: the Lord of hosts is his name.


3 And much people were assembled to Jerusalem to celebrate the solemnity of the unleavened bread in the second month:


9 Now the acts of king David first and last are written in the book of Samuel the seer, and in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the book of Gad the seer:


1 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called faithful and true, and with justice doth he judge and fight.


5 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.


2 Seest thou, that faith did co-operate with his works; and by works faith was made perfect?


Remember you not, that when I was yet with you, I told you these things?


Render therefore to all men their dues. Tribute, to whom tribute is due: custom, to whom custom: fear, to whom fear: honour, to whom honour.


3 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have dealt deceitfully. The venom of asps is under their lips.


0 When they now shoot forth their fruit, you know that summer is nigh;


0 Or if he shall ask him a fish, will he reach him a serpent?


0 For as thorns embrace one another: so while they are feasting and drinking together, they shall be consumed as stubble that is fully dry.


0 Return into thy sheath. I will judge thee in the place wherein thou wast created, in the land of thy nativity.


That you use among you this parable as a proverb in the land of Israel, saying: The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the teeth of the children are set on edge.


But the army of the Chaldeans pursued after the king: and they overtook Sedecias in the desert which is near Jericho: and all his companions were scattered from him.


4 And I will visit against Bel in Babylon, and I will bring forth out of his mouth that which he had swallowed down: and the rations shall no more flow together to him, for the wall also of Babylon shall fall.


3 For thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel: The daughter of Babylon is like a thrashingfloor, this is the time of her thrashing: yet a little while, and the time of her harvest shall come.


2 A noise of war in the land, and a great destruction.


2 He that brought out Moses by the right hand, by the arm of his majesty: that divided the waters before them, to make himself an everlasting name.


0 I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, and my soul shall be joyful in my God: for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation: and with the robe of justice he hath covered me, as a bridegroom decked with a crown, and as a bride adorned with her jewels.


Lift up thy eyes round about, and see: all these are gathered together, they are come to thee: thy sons shah come from afar, and thy daughters shall rise up at thy side.


Praise him on high sounding cymbals: praise him on cymbals of joy:


Understand, ye senseless among the people: and, you fools, be wise at last.


And thou shalt call Isai to the sacrifice, and I will shew thee what thou art to do, and thou shalt anoint him whom I shall shew to thee.


5 But Josue saved Rahab the harlot and her father's house, and all she had, and they dwelt in the midst of Israel until this present day: because she hid the messengers whom he had sent to spy out Jericho. At that time, Josue made an imprecation, saying:


0 But Josue had commanded the people, saying: You shall not shout, nor shall your voice be heard, nor any word go out of your mouth: until the day come wherein I shall say to you: Cry, and shout.


8 And the Lord spoke to Moses the same day, saying:


6 And he said to them : Set your hearts on all the words, which I testify to you this day: which you shall command your children to observe and to do, and to fulfil all that is written in this law:


0 I will lift up my hand to heaven, and I will say: I live for ever.


3 Thus saith the Lord of hosts: The children of Israel, and the children of Juda are oppressed together: all that have taken them captives, hold them fast, they will not let them go.


Flee ye from the midst of Babylon, and let every one save his own life: be not silent upon her iniquity: for it is the time of revenge from the Lord, he will I render unto her what she hath deserved.


2 And that the fords are taken, and the marshes are burnt with fire, and the men of war are affrighted.


8 They shall roar together like lions, they shall shake their manes like young lions.


Then shalt thou see, and abound, and thy heart shall wonder and be enlarged, when the multitude of the sea shall be converted to thee, the. strength of the Gentiles shall come to thee.
