Before the decree bring forth the day as dust passing away, before the fierce anger of the Lord come upon you, before the day of the Lord's indignation come upon you.


And I said: Whither goest thou? and he said to me: To measure Jerusalem, and to see how great is the breadth thereof, and how great the length thereof.


0 She is destroyed, and rent, and torn: the heart melteth, and the knees fail, and all the loins lose their strength: and the faces of them all are as the blackness of a kettle.


7 For every head shall be bald, and every beard shall be shaven: all hands shall be tied together, and upon every back there shall be haircloth.


1 There shall be a crying for wine in the streets: all mirth is forsaken: the joy of the earth is gone away.


4 And now the Lord hath spoken, saying: In three years, as the years of a hireling, the glory of Moab shall be taken away for all the multitude of the people, and it shall be left small and feeble, not many.


Our soul hath been delivered as a sparrow out of the snare of the followers. The snare is broken, and we are delivered.


From the height of the day I shall fear: but I will trust in thee.


2 The sea is come up over Babylon: she is covered with the multitude of the waves thereof.


Open ye the gates, and let the just nation, that keepeth the truth, enter in.


Because the Lord giveth wisdom: and out of his mouth cometh prudence and knowledge.


Behold I come against thee, saith the Lord of hosts: and I will discover thy shame to thy face, and will shew thy nakedness to the nations, and thy shame to kingdoms.


9 O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the Lord.


0 Moab is confounded, because he is overthrown: howl ye, and cry, tell ye it in Amen, that Moab is wasted.
