8 For he had despised the oath, breaking his covenant, and behold he hath given his hand: and having done all these things, he shall not escape.


5 Who was of Mathathias, who was of Amos, who was of Nahum, who was of Hesli, who was of Nagge,


And the tempter coming said to him: If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.


1 I will give thee a king in my wrath, and will take him away in my indignation.


In that day I lifted up my hand for them, to bring them out of the land of Egypt, into a land which I had provided for them, flowing with milk and honey, which excelleth amongst all lands.


4 Nun. They have wandered as blind men in the streets, they were defiled with blood: and when they could not help walking in it, they held up their skirts.


1 Caph. The Lord hath accomplished his wrath, he hath poured out his fierce anger: and he hath kindled a fire in Sion, and it hath devoured the foundations thereof.


6 Coph. Thou hast heard my voice: turn not away thy ear from my sighs, and cries.


9 Coph. Arise, give praise in the night, in the beginning of the watches: pour out thy heart like water before the face of the Lord: lift up thy hands to him for the life of thy little children, that have fainted for hunger at the top of all the streets.


7 Who seek to make my people forget my name through their dreams, which they tell every man to his neighbor: as their fathers forgot my name for Baal.


And I will visit them with four kinds, saith the Lord: The sword to kill, and the dogs to tear, and the fowls of the air, and the beasts of the earth, to devour and destroy.


5 Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel: Behold I will feed this people with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink.


Shall I not visit them for these things, saith the Lord? or shall not my soul be revenged on such a nation?


And a man shall mock his brother, and they will not speak the truth: for they have taught their tongue to speak lies: they have laboured to commit iniquity.


I have spread forth my hands all the day to an unbelieving people, who walk in a way that is not good after their own thoughts.


4 Behold, you are of nothing, and your work of that which hath no being: he that hath chosen you is an abomination.


The crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim shall be trodden under feet.


2 And the Lord, the God of hosts, in that day shall call to weeping, and to mourning, to baldness, and to girding with sackcloth:


8 Sade. Our steps have slipped in the way of our streets, our end draweth near: our days are fulfilled, for our end is come.


The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried by the fire, purged from the earth refined seven times.


0 Destruction upon destruction is called for, and all the earth is laid waste: my tents are destroyed on a sudden, and my pavilions in a moment.


Yea, the hind also brought forth in the field, and left it, because there was no grass.


4 And thou wilt make men as the fishes of the sea, and as the creeping things that have no ruler.


And the Lord answered me, and said: Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables: that he that readeth it may run over it.


Blow ye the cornet in Gabaa, the trumpet in Rama: howl ye in Bethaven, behind thy back, O Benjamin.
