And the Chaldeans burnt the king's house, and the houses of the people with fire, and they threw down the wall of Jerusalem.


1 But if thou wilt not go forth, this is the word which the Lord hath shewn me:


4 And all the army of the Chaldeans that were with the general broke down all the wall of Jerusalem round about.


7 And Jeremias said to Sedecias: Thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel: If thou wilt take a resolution and go out to the princes of the king of Babylon, thy soul shall live, and this city shall not be burnt with fire: and thou shalt be safe, and thy house.


0 And I wrote it in a book and sealed it, and took witnesses: and I weighed him the money in the balances.


4 Neither shall he that is near, say: I am feeble. The people that dwell therein, shall have their iniquity taken away from them.


In the fifth month, the seventh day of the month, that is, the nineteenth year of the king of Babylon, came Nabuzardan commander of the army, a servant of the king of Babylon, into Jerusalem.


5 Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be multiplied, and thy offspring like the grass of the earth.


8 Who have erred from the truth, saying, that the resurrection is past already, and have subverted the faith of some.

4 And king Sedecias sent, and took Jeremias the prophet to him to the third gate, that was in the house of the Lord: and the king said to Jeremias: I will ask thee a thing, hide nothing from me.


0 For I heard the reproaches of many, and terror on every side: Persecute him, and let us persecute him: from all the men that were my familiars, and continued at my side: if by any means he may be deceived, and we may prevail against him, and be revenged on him.
