1 For the prophet and the priest are defiled: and in my house I have found their wickedness, saith the Lord.


4 And I have seen the likeness of adulterers, and the way of lying in the peophets of Jerusalem: and they strengthened the hand of the wicked, that no man should return from his evil doings: that are all become unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gamorrha.


5 And I spoke to them of the captivity all the words of the Lord, which he had shewn me.


4 Hast thou not seen what this people hath spoken, saying: The two families which the Lord had chosen, are cast off: and they have despised my people, so that it is no more a nation before them?


And they cried to the Lord in their tribulation: and he delivered them out of their distresses.


9 This shall be the sin of Egypt, and this the sin of all nations, that will not go up to keep the feast of tabernacles.


And she did not know that I gave her corn and wine, and oil, and multiplied her silver, and gold, which they have used in the service of Baal.


6 Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Hearken not to the words of the prophets that prophesy to you, and deceive you: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the Lord.


And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:


Go up to the mountain, bring timber, and build the house: and it shall be acceptable to me, and I shall be glorified, saith the Lord.


And I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, and it shall devour the houses thereof.


They shall eat the sins of my people, and shall lift up their souls to their iniquity.


5 In those days, and at that time, I will make the bud of justice to spring forth unto David, and he shall do judgment and justice in the earth.


8 Hearing I heard Ephraim when he went into captivity: thou hast chastised me, and I was instructed, as a young bullock unaccustomed to the yoke. Convert me, and I shall be converted, for thou art the Lord my God.


Thus saith the Lord: The people were left and escaped from the sword, found grace in the desert: Israel shall to his rest.


2 And of them shall be taken up a curse by all the captivity of Juda, that are in Babylon, saying: The Lord make thee like Sedecias, and like Achab, whom the king of Babylon fried in the fire :


2 It is not for your sakes that I will do this, saith the Lord God, be it known to you: be confounded, and ashamed at your own ways, O house of Israel.


The sin of Juda is written with a pen of iron, with the point of a diamond, it is graven upon the table of their heart, upon the horns of their altars.


When their children shall remember their altars, and their groves, and their green trees upon high mountains,


3 Behold I come to thee that dwelleth in a valley upon a rock above a plain, saith the Lord: and you say: Who shall strike us? and who shall enter into our houses?


And the Lord hath sent to you all his servants the prophets, rising early, and sending, and you have not hearkened, nor inclined your ears to hear.


3 And they came in, and possessed it: but they obeyed not thy voice, and they walked not in thy law: and they did not any of those things that thou didst command them to do, and all these evils are come upon them.


When they took hold of thee with the hand thou didst break, and rent all their shoulder: and when they leaned upon thee, thou brokest, and weakenest all their loins.


And I went, and hid it by the Euphrates, as the Lord had commanded me.


2 And you shall know that I am the Lord, when I shall have brought you into the land of Israel, into the land for which I lifted up my hand to give it to your fathers.


Therefore thus saith the Lord God: Behold, I will bring the sword upon thee: and cut off man and beast out of thee.
