3 Your words have been unsufferable to me, saith the Lord.


2 If they stood in my counsel, and had made my words known to my people, I should have turned them from their evil way and from their wicked doings.


As he saith also in another place: Thou art a priest for ever, according to the order of Melchisedech.


9 So Sophonias the priest read this letter, in the hearing of Jeremias the prophet.


And thou shalt be left stripped of thy inheritance, which I gave thee: and I will make thee serve thy enemies in a land which thou knowest not: because thou hast kindled a fire in my wrath, it shall burn for ever.


Deliver thyself as a doe from the hand, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.


After these things I looked, and behold a door was opened in heaven, and the first voice which I heard, as it were, of a trumpet speaking with me, said: Come up hither, and I will shew thee the things which must be done hereafter.


4 And his head and his hairs were white, as white wool, and as snow, and his eyes were as a flame of fire,


And I will come to you in judgment, and will be a speedy witness against sorcerers, and adulterers, and false swearers, and them that oppress the hireling in his wages; the widows, and the fatherless: and oppress the stranger, and have not feared me, saith the Lord of hosts.


2 And I will leave in the midst of thee a poor and needy people: and they shall hope in the name of the Lord.


9 Are not my words as a fire, saith the Lord: and as a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?


O expectation of Israel, the Saviour thereof in time of trouble: why wilt thou be a stranger in the land, and as a wayfaring man turning in to lodge?


1 And he said again to Jacob: Behold, this heap, and the stone which I have set up between me and thee,


And Hemor spoke to them: The soul of my son Sichem has a longing for your daughter: give her him to wife:


5 Thus saith Jephte: Israel did not take away the land of Moab, nor the land of the children of Ammon:


7 But calling the servants that ministered to him, he said: Thrust this woman out from me: and shut the door after her.


6 Their quiver is as an open sepulchre, they are all valiant.


9 Do they provoke me to anger, saith the Lord? Is it not themselves, to the confusion of their contenance?


Alas, for that day is great, neither is there the like to it; and it Is the time of tribulation to Jacob, but he shall be saved out of it.


Prophesy therefore concerning the land of Israel, and say to the mountains, and to the hills, to the ridges, and to the valleys: Thus saith the Lord God: Behold I have spoken in my zeal, and in my indignation, because you have borne the shame of the Gentiles.


4 Shall a man be hid in secret places, and I not see him, saith the Lord? do not I fill heaven and earth, saith the Lord?


0 And I will bring an everlasting reproach upon you, and a perpetual shame which shall never be forgotten.
