33 The Lord shewed me: and behold two baskets full of figs, set before the temple of the Lord: after that Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon had carried away Jechonias the son of Joakim the king of Juda, and his chief men, and the craftsmen, and engravers of Jerusalem, and had brought them to Babylon.

And now beseech ye the face of God, that he may have mercy on you, (for by your hand hath this been done,) if by any means he will receive your faces, saith the Lord of hosts.


They shall all come to the prey, their face is like a burning wind: and they shall gather together captives as the sand.


What do ye devise against the Lord? he will make an utter end: there shall not rise a double affliction.


For now they shall say: We have no king: because we fear not the Lord: and what shall a king do to us?


5 And when I shall have plucked them out, I will return, and have mercy on them: and I will bring them back, every man to his inheritance, and every man to his land.


Behold, the day of the Lord shall come, a cruel day, and full of indignation, and of wrath, and fury, to lay the land desolate, and to destroy the sinners thereof out of it.


3 But they did not hear, nor incline their ear: but hardened their neck, that they might not hear me, and might not receive instruction.


Hesebon shall cry, and Eleale, their voice is heard even to Jasa. For this shall the well appointed men of Moab howl, his soul shall howl to itself.


Do you therefore take courage, and let not your hands he weakened: for there shall be a reward for your work.


Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Sion, shout for joy, O daughter of Jerusalem: BEHOLD THY KING will come to thee, the just and saviour: he is poor, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.


2 And he did evil before the Lord, according to all that his fathers had done.


Behold you put your trust in lying words, which shall not profit you:


3 But this thing I commanded them, saying: Hearken to my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people: and walk ye in all the way that I have commanded you, that it may be well with you.


And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:
