And the word of the Lord came to Jeremias the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying:


2 And of them shall be taken up a curse by all the captivity of Juda, that are in Babylon, saying: The Lord make thee like Sedecias, and like Achab, whom the king of Babylon fried in the fire :


1 For I am with thee, saith the Lord, to save thee: for I will utterly consume all the nations, among which I have scattered thee: but I will not utterly consume thee: but I will chastise thee in judgment, that thou mayst not seem to thyself innocent.


5 And I spoke to them of the captivity all the words of the Lord, which he had shewn me.


6 Thus saith the Lord: Let thy voice cease from weeping, and thy eyes from tears: for there is a reward for thy work, saith the Lord: and they shall return out of the land of the enemy.


And they cried to the Lord in their tribulation: and he delivered them out of their distresses.


2 It is not for your sakes that I will do this, saith the Lord God, be it known to you: be confounded, and ashamed at your own ways, O house of Israel.


And I prophesied as he had commanded me: and as I prophesied there was a noise, and behold a commotion: and the bones came together, each one to its joint.


0 Thou wilt perform the truth of Jacob, the mercy to Abraham: which thou hast sworn to our fathers from the days of old.


1 And they healed the breach of the daughter of my people disgracefully, saying Peace, peace: when there was no peace.


8 Thus saith the Lord: Behold I bring back the captivity of the pavilions of Jacob, and will have pity on his houses, and the city shall be built in her place, and the temple shall be found according to the order thereof.


5 Thus saith the Lord: A voice was heard on high of lamentation, of mourning, and weeping, of Rachel weeping for her children, and refusing to be comforted for them, because they are not.


How shall it be quiet, when the Lord hath given it a charge against Ascalon, and against the countries thereof by the sea side, and there hath made an appointment for it?


4 But if you will not hear me, nor do all my commandments,


When their children shall remember their altars, and their groves, and their green trees upon high mountains,


7 Destroy all her valiant men, let them go down to the slaughter: woe to them, for their day is come, the time of their visitation.


9 And I scattered them among the nations, and they are dispersed through the countries: I have judged them according to their ways, and their devices.


And they shall be confounded that see visions, and the diviners shall be confounded: and they shall all cover their faces, because there is no answer of God.
