And the word of the Lord came to Jeremias the prophet, saying:


4 Therefore all the princes sent Judi the son of Nathanias, the son of Selemias, the son of Chusi, to Baruch, saying: Take in thy hand the volume in which thou hast read in the hearing of the people, and come. So Baruch the son of Nerias took the volume in his hand, and came to them.


1 The Lord saith to me: Assuredly it shall be well with thy remnant, assuredly I shall help thee in the time of affliction, and in the time of tribulation against the enemy.


1 Sedecias was one and twenty years old when he began to reign: and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem.


Choose the best, and him that shall please you most of your master's sons, and set him on his father's throne, and fight for the house of your master.


5 And the Lord God shall strike Israel as a reed is shaken in the water: and he shall root up Israel out of this good land, which he gave to their fathers, and shall scatter them beyond the river: because they have made to themselves groves, to provoke the Lord.


And for the innocent blood that he shed, filling Jerusalem with innocent blood: and therefore the Lord would not be appeased.


1 And Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon came to the city with his servants to assault it.


0 He that shall be, his name is already called: and it is known, that he is man, and cannot contend in judgment with him that is stronger than himself.


0 Therefore I will give their women to strangers, their fields to others for an inheritance: because from the least even to the greatest all follow covetousness: from the prophet even to the priest, all deal deceitfully.


And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:


3 And all the people of the land shall bury him, and it shall be unto them a noted day, wherein I was glorified, saith the Lord God.
