2 Her voice shall sound like brass, for they shall hasten with an army, and with axes they shall come against her, as hewers of wood.


Have you forgotten the evils of your fathers, and the evils of the kings of Juda, and the evils of their wives, and your evils, and the evils of your wives, that they have done in the land of Juda, and in the streets of Jerusalem?


1 And the Lord shall be known by Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know the Lord in that day, and shall worship him with sacrifices and offerings: and they shall make vows to the Lord, and per- form them.


5 His shoe shall be iron and brass. As the days of thy youth, so also shall thy old age be.


4 And I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and will put my sword in his hand: and I will break the arms of Pharao, and they shall groan bitterly being slain before his face.


1 Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharao king of Egypt: and behold it is not bound up, to be healed, to be tied up with clothes, and swathed with linen, that it might recover strength, and hold the sword.


7 And thou my servant Jacob, fear not and be not thou dismayed, O Israel: for behold I will save thee from afar off, and thy seed out of the ]and of thy captivity: and Jacob shall return and be at rest, and prosper: and there shall be none to terrify him.


6 Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.


In his days Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon came up, and Joakim became his servant three years: then again he rebelled against him.


6 Then Eliacim the son of Helcias, and Sobna, and Joahe said to Rabsaces: We pray thee speak to us thy servants in Syriac: for we understand that tongue: and speak not to us in the Jews' language, in the hearing of the people that are upon the wall.


And afterwards I will cause the captives of the children of Ammon to return, saith the Lord.


4 Give them, O Lord. What wilt thou give them? Give them a womb without children, and dry breasts.


1 This is my covenant with them, saith the Lord: My spirit that is in thee, and my words that I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith the Lord, from henceforth and for ever.
