But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law. For they are unprofitable and vain.


For they are gone up to Assyria, a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath given gifts to his lovers.


2 Moreover I gave them also my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them: and that they might know that I am the Lord that sanctify them.


0 They have discovered the nakedness of their father in thee, they have humbled the uncleanness of the menstruous woman in thee.


In the parts of the torrent is thy portion, this is thy lot: and thou hast poured out libations to them, thou hast offered sacrifice. Shall I not be angry at these things?


4 With whom hath he consulted, and who hath instructed him, and taught him the path of justice, and taught him knowledge, and shewed him the way of understanding?


9 Write therefore the things which thou hast seen, and which are, and which must be done hereafter.


0 The four and twenty ancients fell down before him that sitteth on the throne, and adored him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying:


For all tables were full of vomit and filth, so that there was no more place.


3 And upon all the tall and lofty cedars of Libanus, and upon all the oaks of Basan.


Who is like to me? let him call and declare: and let him set before me the order, since I appointed the ancient people: and the things to come, and that shall be hereafter, let them shew unto them.


Behold the Lord God is my helper: who is he that shall condemn me? Lo, they shall all be destroyed as a garment, the moth shall eat them up.


0 But the wicked are like the raging sea, which cannot rest, and the waves thereof cast up dirt and mire.


0 And there shall come a, redeemer to Sion, and to them that return from iniquity in Jacob, saith the Lord.


0 Pass over to the isles of Cethim, and see: and send into Cedar, and consider diligently: and see if there hath been done any thing like this.


5 Go not out into the fields, nor walk in the highway: for the sword of the enemy, and fear is on every side.


2 Thau. Thou hast called as to a festival, those that should terrify me round about, and there was none in the day of the wrath of the Lord that escaped and was left: those that I brought up, and nourished, my enemy hath consumed them.


0 And I clothed thee with embroidery, and shed thee with violet coloured shoes : and I girded thee about with fine linen, and clothed thee with fine garments.


4 And they went in to her, as to a harlot: so went they in unto Oolla, and Ooliba, wicked women.


1 Say to them: As I live, saith the Lord God, I desire not the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way, and live. Turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways: and why will you die, O house of Israel?


0 And the men were greatly afraid, and they said to him: Why hast thou done this? (for the men knew that he fled from the face of the Lord: because he had told them.)


7 And they asked him, saying: Tell us how didst thou write all these words from his mouth.


2 And you shall know that I am the Lord: because you have not walked in my commandments, and have not done my judgments, but you have done according to the judgments of the nations that; are round about you.
