2 A joyful mind maketh age flourishing: a sorrowful spirit drieth up the bones.


3 And lifting up his eyes when he was in torments, he saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom:


Shall a man afflict God? for you afflict me. And you have said: Wherein do we afflict thee? in tithes and in firstfruits.


Then Baldad the Suhite answered, and said:


0 And especially them who walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government, audacious, self willed, they fear not to bring in sects, blaspheming.


5 Hate evil, and love good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be the Lord the God of hosts may have mercy on the remnant of Joseph.


Behold I will send you Elias the prophet, before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.


7 Fear, and the pit, and the snare are upon thee, O thou inhabitant of the earth.


8 Therefore the Lord waiteth that be may have mercy on you: and therefore shall he be exalted sparing you: because the Lord is the God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.


2 Wast thou not from the beginning, O Lord my God, my holy one, and we shall not die? Lord, thou hast appointed him for judgment: and made him strong for correction.


0 Six years thou shalt sow thy ground, and shalt gather the corn thereof.


And the first son he shall have of her he shall call by his name, that his name be not abolished out of Israel.


4 Remove from thee a froward mouth, and let detracting lips be far from thee.


They were all confounded at a people that could not profit them: they were no help, nor to any profit, but to confusion and to reproach.


3 Upon the land of my people shall thorns and briers come up: how much more upon all the houses of joy, of the city that rejoiced?


Therefore speak to them, and say to them: Thus saith the Lord God: Man, man of the house of Israel that shall place his uncleannesses in his heart, and set up the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and shall come to the prophet inquiring of me by him: I the Lord will answer him according to the multitude of his uncleannesses:


0 You that build up Sion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity.
