To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God: to comfort all that mourn:


2 The least shall become a thousand, and a little one a most strong nation: I the Lord will suddenly do this thing in its time.


1 And thy gates shall be open continually: they shall not be shut day nor night, that the strength of the Gentiles may be brought to thee, and their kings may be brought.


The mountains tremble at him, and the hills are made desolate: and the earth hath quaked at his presence, and the world, and all that dwell therein.


2 Be converted to me, and you shall be saved, all ye ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is no other.


9 But I say: Hath not Israel known? First, Moses saith: I will provoke you to jealousy by that which is not a nation; by a foolish nation I will anger you.


0 All the ways of the Lord are mercy and truth, to them that seek after his covenant and his testimonies.


8 I counsel thee to buy of me gold fire tried, that thou mayest be made rich; and mayest be clothed in white garments, and that the shame of thy nakedness may not appear; and anoint thy eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.


2 Wilt thou refrain thyself, O Lord, upon these things, wilt thou hold thy peace, and afflict us vehemently?


5 Can a woman forget her infant, so as not to have pity on the son of her womb? and if she should forget, yet will not I forget thee.


For he shall bring down them that dwell on high, the high city he shall lay low. He shall bring it down even to the ground, he shall pull it down even to the dust.


For without cause they have hidden their net for me unto destruction : without cause they have upbraided my soul.


5 For so is the will of God, that by doing well you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:


But what saith the scripture? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart. This is the word of faith, which we preach.


0 Go through, go through the gates, prepare the way for the people, make the road plain, pick out the stones, and lift up the standard to the people.


7 That I may come down and speak with thee: and I will take of thy spirit, and will give to them, that they may bear with thee the burden of the people, and thou mayest not be burthened alone.


3 For until the law sin was in the world; but sin was not imputed, when the law was not.


He was taken away from distress, and from judgment: who shall declare his generation? because he is cut oh out of the land of the living: for the wickedness of my people have I struck him.


Thou hast understood my thoughts afar off: my path and my line thou hast searched out.


I have laboured with crying; my jaws are become hoarse: my eyes have failed, whilst I hope in my God.


And they have cast lots upon my people: and the boy they have put in the stews, and the girl they have sold for wine, that they might drink.


3 But as for me, my prayer is to thee, O Lord; for the time of thy good pleasure, O God. In the multitude of thy mercy hear me, in the truth of thy salvation.


7 But he, courteously saluting them again, asked them, saying: Is the old man your father in health, of whom uou told me? Is he yet living?


0 Isaac had scarce ended his words, when Jacob being now gone out abroad, Esau came,


And Moses told all this to the children of Israel: but they did not hearken to him, for anguish of spirit, and most painful work.


Hell below was in an uproar to meet thee at thy coming, it stirred up the giants for thee. All the princes of the earth are risen up from their thrones, all the princes of nations.


0 All shall answer, and say to thee: Thou also art wounded as well as we, thou art become like unto us.


6 Lord, they have sought after thee in distress, in the tribulation of murmuring thy instruction was with them.


The burden of the beasts of the south. In a land of trouble and distress, from whence come the lioness, and the lion, the viper and the flying basilisk, they carry their riches upon the shoulders of beasts, and their treasures upon the bunches of camels to a people that shall not be able to profit them.


8 And I saw, and there was no one even among them to consult, or who, when I asked, could answer a word.


8 Remember not former things, and look not on things of old.


5 In the Lord shall all the seed of Israel be justified and praised.


4 As many have been astonished at thee, so shall his visage be inglorious among men, and his form among the sons of men.


4 And shall have put my spirit in you, and you shall live, and I shall make you rest upon your own land: and you shall know that I the Lord have spoken, and done it, saith the Lord God:


Hearken unto me, O my people, and give ear to me, O my tribes: for a law shall go forth from me, and my judgment shall rest to be a light of the nations.


4 But he that had received the one talent, came and said: Lord, I know that thou art a hard man; thou reapest where thou hast not sown, and gatherest where thou hast not strewed.
