The Lord God hath opened my ear, and I do not resist: I have not gone back.


4 Let women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted them to speak, but to be subject, as also the law saith.


For he shall be like tamaric in the desert, and he shall not see when good shall come: but he shall dwell in dryness in the desert in a salt land, and not inhabited.


8 I counsel thee to buy of me gold fire tried, that thou mayest be made rich; and mayest be clothed in white garments, and that the shame of thy nakedness may not appear; and anoint thy eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.


6 And the Lord shall roar out of Sion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem: and the heavens and the earth shall be moved, and the Lord shall be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel.


And the word of the Lord came to me in the ninth year, in the tenth month, the tenth day of the month, saying:


1 I am, I am the Lord: and there is no saviour besides me.


The mirth of timbrels hath ceased, the noise of them that rejoice is ended, the melody of the harp is silent.


The fishers also shall mourn, and all that cast a hook into the river shall lament, and they that spread nets upon the waters shall languish away.


The calf and the bear shall feed: their young ones shall rest together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.


Let every spirit praise the Lord. Alleluia.


And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt:


So desirous of you, we would gladly impart unto you not only the gospel of God, but also our own souls: because you were become most dear unto us.


1 I have delivered him into the hands of the mighty one of the nations, he shall deal with him: I have cast him out according to his wickedness.


Upon thy wails, O Jerusalem, I have appointed watchmen all the day, and all the night, they shall never hold their peace. You that are mindful of the Lord, hold not your peace,


They bear him on their shoulders and carry him, and set him in his piece, and he shall stand, and shall not stir out of his place. Yea, when they shall cry also unto him, he shall not hear: he shall not save them from tribulation.


6 Part of it he burnt with fire, and with part of it he dressed his meat: he boiled pottage, and was filled, and was warmed, and said: Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire.


Praise him with timbrel and choir: praise him with strings and organs.

So the Jews made a great slaughter of their enemies, and killed them, repaying according to what they had prepared to do to them:


God is my strong one, in him will I trust: my shield, and the horn of my salvation: he lifteth me up, and is my refuge: my saviour, thou wilt deliver me from iniquity.


And they said one to another: Let us appoint a captain, and let us return into Egypt.


0 Isaac had scarce ended his words, when Jacob being now gone out abroad, Esau came,


He that is mocked by his friends as I, shall call upon God and he will hear him: for the simplicity of the just man is laughed to scorn.


And I will set the Egyptians to fight against the Egyptians: and they shall fight brother against brother, and friend against friend, city against city, kingdom against kingdom.


So shall the king of the Assyrians lead away the prisoners of Egypt, and the captivity of Ethiopia, young and old. naked and barefoot, with their buttocks uncovered to the shame of Egypt.


And they shall be afraid, and ashamed of Ethiopia their hope, and of Egypt their glory.


1 O poor little one, tossed with tempest, without all comfort, behold I will lay thy stones in order, and will lay thy foundations with sapphires,


3 Instead of the shrub, shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the nettle, shall come up the myrtle tree: and the Lord shall be named for an everlasting sign, that shall not be taken away.


1 And thy gates shall be open continually: they shall not be shut day nor night, that the strength of the Gentiles may be brought to thee, and their kings may be brought.
