16 4 Who hath given Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to robbers? hath not the Lord himself, against whom we have sinned? And they would not walk in his ways, and they have not hearkened to his law.

9 You shall have a song as in the night of the sanctified solemnity, and joy of heart, as when one goeth with a pipe, to come into the mountain of the Lord, to the Mighty One of Israel.


3 But he said to them: Do nothing more than that which is appointed you.


Lo thou trustest upon this broken staff of a reed, upon Egypt: upon which if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharao king or Egypt to all that trust in him.


2 Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and weighed the heavens with his palm? who hath poised with three fingers the bulk of the earth, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?


7 Wherefore become not unwise, but understanding what is the will of God.


1 Be astonished, ye rich women, be troubled, ye confident ones: strip yen, and be confounded, gird your loins.


4 For we have not here a lasting city, but we seek one that is to come.


Who walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth, hoping for help in the strength of Pharao, and trusting in the shadow of Egypt.


1 They will hunt after the soul of the just, and will condemn innocent blood.


And he said to me: Thou art my servant Israel, for in thee will I glory.


0 Woe to him that saith to his father: Why begettest thou? and to the woman: Why dost thou bring forth?


And there went out to him Eliacim the son of Helcias, who was over the house, and Sobna the scribe, and Joahe the son of Asaph the recorder.


2 And the earth shall hear the core, and the wine, and the oil, and these shall hear Jezrahel.


4 Therefore, behold I will allure her, and will lead her into the wilderness: and I will speak to her heart.


Now therefore go in and write for them upon box, and note it diligently in a book, and it shall be in the latter days for a testimony for ever.


And Josue said to the children of Israel: Come hither and hear the word of the Lord your God.


And I shall have made their land a wilderness, and desolate, because they have been transgressors, saith the Lord God.


Behold I have given him for a witness to the people, for a leader and a master to the Gentiles.


1 Behold all that fight against thee shall be confounded and ashamed, they shall be as nothing, and the men shall perish that strive against thee.


0 For there is no just man upon earth, that doth good, and sinneth not.


I made me great works, I built me houses, and planted vineyards,


6 For the king knoweth of these things, to whom also I speak with confidence. For I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him. For neither was any of these things done in a corner.


8 Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.


5 Thou hast been favourable to the nation, O Lord, thou hast been favourable to the nation: art thou glorified? thou hast removed all the ends of the earth far off.


6 And the light of the moon shall be se the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days: in the day when the Lord shall bind up the wound of his people, and shall heal the stroke of their wound.


5 I have raised up one from the north, and he shall come from the rising of the sun: he shall call upon my name, and he shall make princes to be as dirt, and as the potter treading clay.


5 Verily thou art a hidden God, the God of Israel the saviour.


But he was wounded for our iniquities, he was bruised for our sins: the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and by his bruises we are healed.


There is none that calleth upon justice, neither is there any one that judgeth truly: but they trust in a mere nothing, and speak vanities: they have conceived labour, and brought forth iniquity.


And he said: Surely they are my people, children that will not deny: so he became their saviour.


6 Therefore thus saith the Lord the God of hosts the sovereign Lord: In every street there shall be wailing: and in all places that are without, they shall say: Alas, alas! and they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and such as are skilful in lamentation to lament.
