Shall the trumpet sound in a city, and the people not be afraid? Shall there be evil in a city, which the Lord hath not done?


7 The just cried, and the Lord heard them: and delivered them out of all their troubles.


For David, when he changed his countenance before Achimelech, who dismissed him, and he went his way. [1 Kings 21.] I will bless the Lord at all times, his praise shall be always in my mouth.


8 Better is wisdom, than weapons of war: and he that shall offend in one, shall lose many good things.


Thou shalt take up this parable against the king of Babylon, and shalt say: How is the oppressor come to nothing, the tribute hath ceased?


That you be not bowed down under the bond, and fall with the slain? In all these things his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.


9 Hear, O earth: Behold I will bring evils upon this people, the fruits of their own thoughts: because they have not heard my words, and they have cast away my law.


2 Hear my prayer, O Lord, and my supplication : give ear to my tears. Be not silent : for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner as all my fathers were.


For the laws of the people are vain: for the works of the hand of the workman hath cut a tree out of the forest with an axe.


3 And upon Cariathaim, and upon Bethgamul, and upon Bethmaon,


5 And David said to him: Canst thou bring me to this company? And he said: Swear to me by God, that thou wilt not kill me, nor deliver me into the hands of my master, and I will bring thee to this company. And David swore to him.
