7 To God the only wise, through Jesus Christ, to whom be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.


Hear this, you that crush the poor, and make the needy of the land to fail,


Will a lion roar in the forest, if he have no prey? will the lion's whelp cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing ?


For even thy brethren, and the house of thy father, even they have fought against thee, and have cried after thee with full voice: believe them not when they speak good things to thee.


6 And the four and twenty ancients, who sit on their seats in the sight of God, fell on their faces and adored God, saying:


5 I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesylies in my name, and say: I have dreamed, I have dreamed.


Therefore night shall be to you instead of vision, and darkness to you instead of divination; and the sun shall go down upon the prophets, and the day shall be darkened over them.


And I said: Hear, O ye princes of Jacob, and ye chiefs of the house of Israel: Is it not your part to know judgment,


2 So when the captains of the chariots saw Josaphat, they suspected that he was the king of Israel, and making a violent assault they fought against him: and Josaphat cried out.


5 Now there was not such another as Achab, who was sold to do evil in the sight of the Lord: for his wife Jezabel set him on,


5 For Sina is a mountain in Arabia, which hath affinity to that Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.


6 For before these days rose up Theodas, affirming himself to be somebody, to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all that believed him were scattered, and brought to nothing.


5 Who, by the Holy Ghost, by the mouth of our father David, thy servant, hast said: Why did the Gentiles rage, and the people meditate vain things?


3 Art thou greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? and the prophets are dead. Whom dost thou make thyself?


5 And the Jews wondered, saying: How doth this man know letters, having never learned?


2 And Abdemelech the Ethiopian said to Jeremias: Put these old rags and these rent and rotten things under thy arms, and upon the cords: and Jeremias did so.


For behold the days come, saith the Lord, and I will bring again the captivity of my people Israel and Juda, saith the Lord: and I will cause them to return to the land which I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.


9 Did Ezechias king of Juda, and all Juda, condemn him to death? did they not fear the Lord, and beseech the face of the Lord: and the Lord repented of the evil that they had spoken against them? therefore we are doing a great evil against our souls.


Be thou instructed, O Jerusalem, lest my soul depart from thee, lest I make thee desolate, a land uninhabited.


1 So Joas king of Israel went up, and they presented themselves to be seen by one another: and Amasias king of Juda was in Bethsames of Juda:


And Josaphat his son reigned in his stead, and grew strong against Israel.


2 But Tychicus I have sent to Ephesus.


3 The cloak that I left at Troas, with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, especially the parchments.


4 And they went up into the city. And when they were walking in the midst of the city, behold Samuel was coming out over against them, to go up to the high place.


8 Their arrows are sharp, and all their bows are bent. The hoofs of their horses shall be like the hint, and their wheels like the violence of a tempest.


8 And in that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book, and out of darkness and obscurity the eyes of the blind shall see.


And the army of Pharao was come out of Egypt: and the Chaldeans that besieged Jerusalem, hearing these tidings, departed from Jerusalem.


0 I will not stir him up, like one that is cruel : for who can resist my countenance?


3 Give ear, and hear my voice, hearken, and hear my speech.
