Thou hast sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless thou hast broken in pieces.


5 And if a brother or sister be naked, and want daily food:


I struck you with a burning wind, and with mildew, the palmerworm hath eaten up your many gardens, and your vineyards: your olive groves, and fig groves: yet you returned not to me, saith the Lord.


Prepare ye war against her: arise, and let us go up at midday: woe unto us, for the day is declined, for the shadows of the evening are grown longer.


5 And man shall be brought down, and man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be brought low.


Deliver me from my enemies, O Lord, to thee have I fled:


In his sight the malignant is brought to nothing: but he glorifieth them that fear the Lord. He that sweareth to his neighbour, and deceiveth not;


4 The murderer riseth at the very break of day, he killeth the needy, and the poor man: but in the night he will be as a thief.


1 They say to him: He will bring those evil men to an evil end; and will let out his vineyard to other husbandmen, that shall render him the fruit in due season.


The holy man is perished out of the earth, and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood, every one hunteth his brother to death.


0 Arise ye, and depart, for there is no rest here for you. For that uncleanness of the land, it shall be corrupted with a grievous corruption.


9 For when he granteth peace, who is there that can condemn? When he hideth his countenance, who is there that can behold him, whether it regard nations, or all men?


9 Let him pass from the snow waters to excessive heat, and his sin even to hell.


6 The Lord shall reign to eternity, yea, for ever and ever: ye Gentiles shall perish from his land.


1 By three things the earth is disturbed, and the fourth it cannot bear:


Are not my princes as so many kings ? is not Calano as Charcamis: and Emath as Arphad? is not Samaria as Damascus?


0 As my hand hath found the king- dome of the idol, so also their idols of Jerusalem, and of Samaria.


2 And he shall set up a standard unto the nations, and shall assemble the fugitives of Israel, and shall gather together the dispersed of Juda from the four quarters of the earth.


For the waters of Nemrim shall be desolate, for the grass is withered away, the spring is faded, all the greenness is perished.


4 Let not the dead live, let not the giants rise again: therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and best destroyed all their memory.


And the- strength of Pharao shall be to your confusion, and the confidence of the shadow of Egypt to your shame.


0 And the Lord will give you spare bread, and short water: and will not cause thy teacher to flee away from thee any more, and thy eyes shall see thy teacher.


2 And the places that have been desolate for ages shall be built in thee: thou shalt raise up the foundations of generation and generation: and thou shalt be called the repairer of the fences, turning the paths into rest.


0 The soul that sinneth, the same shall die: the son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, and the father shall not bear the iniquity of the son: the justice of the just shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.


3 And there you shall remember your ways, and all your wicked doings with which you have been defiled; and you shall be displeased with yourselves in your own sight, for all your wicked deeds which you committed.


4 And you shall know that I am the Lord, when I shall have done well by you for my own name's sake, and not according to your evil ways, nor according to your wicked deeds, O house of Israel, saith the Lord God.


1 Her princes have judged for bribes, and her priests have taught for hire, and her prophets divined for money: and they leaned upon the Lord, saying: Is not the Lord in the midst of us? no evil shall come upon us.


9 And the ground may yield you its fruits, of which you may eat your fill, fearing no mall's invasion.


2 And the eighth year you shall sow, and shall eat of the old fruits, until the ninth year: till new grow up, you shall eat the old store.


Thus saith the Lord to me: Go, and get thee a linen girdle, and thou shalt put it about thy loins, and shalt not put it into water.


5 And he that holdeth the bow shall not stand, and the swift of foot shall not escape, neither shall the rider of the horse save his life.


You have cast out the women of my people from their houses, in which they took delight: you have taken my praise for ever from their children.
