3 Woe to them, for they have departed from me: they shall be wasted because they have transgressed against me: and I redeemed them : and they have spoken lies against me.


5 For you have said : We have entered into a league with death, and we have made a covenant with hell. When the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come upon us: for we have placed our hope in lies, and by falsehood we are protected.


4 But behold, I will raise up a nation against you, O house of Israel, saith the Lord the God of hosts; and they shall destroy you from the entrance of Emath, even to the torrent of the desert.


And if there remain ten men in one house, they also shall die.


Will a lion roar in the forest, if he have no prey? will the lion's whelp cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing ?


6 And the stout of heart among the valiant shall flee away naked in that day, saith the Lord.


They were all heated like an oven, and have devoured their judges : all their kings have fallen: there is none amongst them that calleth unto me.


3 And Ephraim saw his sickness, and Juda his band: and Ephraim went to the Assyrian, and sent to the avenging king: and he shall not be able to heal you, neither shall he be able to take off the band from you.


9 The wind hath bound them up in its wings, and they shall be confounded because of their sacrifices.


7 Therefore the Lord shell have no joy in their young men: neither shall he have mercy on their fatherless, and widows: for every one is a hypocrite and wicked, and every mouth hath spoken folly. For all this his indignation is not turned away, but his bend is stretched out still.


2 Say ye not: A conspiracy: for all that this people speaketh, is a conspiracy: neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid.


0 And they shall make a noise against them that day, like the roaring of the sea; we shall look towards the land, and behold darkness of tribulation, and the light is darkened with the mist thereof.


9 That say: Let him make haste, and let his work come quickly, that we may see it: and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel come, that we may know it.


Seek not to be like evil men, neither desire to be with them:


1 But hear ye my counsel, and release the captives that you have brought of your brethren, because a great indignation of the Lord hangeth over you.


4 And he did that which was right before the Lord: according to all that his father Ozias had done, so did he.


4 I also will walk contrary to you, and will strike you seven times for your sins.


For he hath taken us, and he will heal us: he will strike, and he will cure us.


6 And they that call this people blessed, shall cause them to err: and they that are called blessed, shall be thrown down headlong.


9 By the wrath of the Lord of hosts the land is troubled, and the people shall be as fuel for the fire: no man shall spare his brother.


I struck you with a burning wind, and with mildew, the palmerworm hath eaten up your many gardens, and your vineyards: your olive groves, and fig groves: yet you returned not to me, saith the Lord.


2 Can horses run upon the rocks, or can any one plough with buffles? for you have turned judgment into bitterness, and the fruit of justice into wormwood.


And it came to pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, I said: O Lord God, be merciful, I beseech thee: who shall raise up Jacob, for he is very little?
