For every violent taking of spoils, with tumult, and garment mingled with blood, shall be burnt, and be fuel for the fire.


0 Then the Chaldeains answered before the king, and said: There is no man upon earth, that can accomplish thy word, O king, neither doth any king, though great and mighty, ask such a thing of any diviner, or wise man, or Chaldean.


And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, which is Jebus, where the Jebusites were the inhabitants of the land.


5 And now the wise men the magicians have come in before me, to read this writing, and shew me the interpretation thereof: and they could not declare to me the meaning of this writing.


2 As silver is melted in the midst of the furnace, so shall you be in the midst thereof: and you shall know that I am the Lord, when I have poured out my indignation upon you.


5 And languish in heart, and that multiplieth ruins. In all their gates I have set the dread of the sharp sword, the sword that is furbished to glitter, that is made ready for slaughter.


3 They have cut down her forest, saith the Lord, which cannot be counted: they are multiplied above locusts, and are without number.


Why have we fasted, and thou hast not regarded: have we humbled our souls, and thou hast not taken notice? Behold in the day of your fast your own will is found, and you exact of all your debtors.


I foretold thee of old, before they came to pass I told thee, lest thou shouldst say: My idols have done these things, and my graven and molten things have commanded them.


I am the Lord, and there is none else: there is no God, besides me: I girded thee, and thou hast not known me:


They shall be confounded that wrought in flax, combing and weaving fine linen.


SEND forth, O Lord, the lamb, the ruler of the earth, from Petra of the desert, to the mount of the daughter of Sion.


In their streets they are girded with sackcloth: on the tops of their houses, and in their streets all shall howl and come down weeping.

7 Vain is the horse for safety: neither shall he be saved by the abundance of his strength.


They answered again and said: Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will declare the interpretation of it.


And he said to them: What manner of man was he who met you, and spoke these words?
