16 4 Therefore, thus saith the Lord the God of hosts: O my people that dwellest in Sion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall strike thee with his rod, and he shall lift up his staff over thee in the way of Egypt.

6 And he humbled himself afterwards, because his heart had been lifted up, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem: and therefore the wrath of the Lord came not upon them in the days of Ezechias.


And when they had gone through the whole island, as far as Paphos, they found a certain man, a magician, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Bar-jesu:


2 wondrous works in the land of Cham: terrible things in the Red Sea.


And I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of the Assyrians, and I will protect it.


7 And Sennacherib the king of the Assyrians went out and departed, and returned, and dwelt in Ninive.


2 Woe to the multitude of many people, like the multitude of the roaring sea: and the tumult of crowds, like the noise of many waters.


6 And the Lord of hosts shall raise up a scourge against him, according to the slaughter of Madian in the rock of Oreb, and his rod over the sea, and he shall lift it up in the way of Egypt.


3 And the people are not returned to him who hath struck them, and have not sought after the Lord of hosts.


5 Therefore is the wrath of the Lord kindled against his people, and he hath stretched out his hand upon them, and struck them: and the mountains were troubled, and their carcasses became as dung in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.


5 And very many of them shall stumble and fall, and shall be broken in pieces, and shall be snared, and taken.


8 But he is merciful, and will forgive their sins: and will not destroy them. And many a time did he turn away his anger: and did not kindle all his wrath.


But the prince will devise such things as are worthy of a prince, and he shah stand above the rulers.


And many nations shall pass by this city: and they shall say every man to his neighbor: Why hath the Lord done so to this great city?


4 And I the Lord will be their God: and my servant David the prince in the midst of them: I the Lord have spoken it.


He will muster up his valiant men, they shall stumble in their march: they shall quickly get upon the walls thereof: and a covering shall be prepared.


I have destroyed the nations, and their towers are beaten down: I have made their ways desert, so that there is none that passeth by: their cities are desolate, there is not a man remaining, nor any inhabitant.


2 The Syrians from the east, and the Philistines from the west: and they shall devour Israel with open mouth, For all this his indignation is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.


9 Thy dead men shall live, my slain shall rise again: awake, and give praise, ye that dwell in the dust: for thy dew is the dew of the light: and the land of the giants thou shalt pull down into ruin.


2 And upon Dibon, and upon Nabo, and upon the house of Deblathaim,


2 And they made their heart as the adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the Lord of hosts sent in his spirit by the hand of the former prophets: so a great indignation came from the Lord of hosts.
