1 The men of Arad were with thy army upon thy walls round about: the Pygmeans also that were in thy towers, hung up their quivers on thy walls round about: they perfected thy beauty.


Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwelleth therein: and rise up altogether as a river, and be cast out, and run down as the river of Egypt?


Ephraim shall say, What have I to do any more with idols? I will hear him, and I will make him flourish like a green fir tree: from me is thy fruit found.


6 Let Samaria perish, because she hath stirred up her God to bitterness: let them perish by the sword, let their little ones be dashed, and let the women with child be ripped up.


And my people shall long for my return: but a yoke shall be put upon them together, which shall not be taken off.


Samaria hath made her king to pass as froth upon the face of the water.


For the laws of the people are vain: for the works of the hand of the workman hath cut a tree out of the forest with an axe.


1 And the rest of the acts of Manahem, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Israel?


3 But this thing I commanded them, saying: Hearken to my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people: and walk ye in all the way that I have commanded you, that it may be well with you.


9 The rich man when he shall sleep shall take away nothing with him: he shall open his eyes and find nothing.


Ghimel. Yea, and when I cry, and entreat, he hath shut out my prayer.


Who is wise, and he shall understand these things? prudent, and he shall know these things? for the ways of the Lord are right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall fall in them.
