2 And he dwelt in Egypt with all his father's house: and lived a hundred and ten years.


And Satan answered, and said: Skin for skin, and all that a man hath he will give for his life:


2 And he said to Jesus: Lord, remember me when thou shalt come into thy kingdom.


6 From that time unto this day, in the whole land of Egypt, the fifth part is paid to the king, and it is become as a law, except the land of the priests, which was free from this covenant.


Being manifested, that you are the epistle of Christ, ministered by us, and written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in the fleshly tables of the heart.


6 To the one indeed the odour of death unto death: but to the others the odour of life unto life. And for these things who is so sufficient?


9 And a woman took, and spread a covering over the mouth of the well, as it were to dry sodden barley: and so the thing was not known.


7 And the ancients of his house came, to make him rise from the ground: but he would not, neither did he eat meat with them.


4 And after she had weaned him, she carried him with her, with three calves, and three bushels of flour, and a bottle of wine, and she brought him to the house of the Lord in Silo. Now the child was as yet very young:

9 And Ruben, returning to the pit, found not the boy:


1 Fear not: I will feed you and your children. And he comforted them, and spoke gently and mildly.


3 And he saw the children of Ephraim to the third generation. The children also of Machir the son of Ma-nasses were born on Joseph's knees.


And when he saw Esther the queen standing, she pleased his eyes, and he held out toward her the golden sceptre, which he held in his hand: and she drew near, and kissed the top of his sceptre.
