And Balac son of Sephor king of Moab arose and fought against Israel. And he sent and called for Balaam son of Beor, to curse you:

And you are cursed with want, and you afflict me, even the whole nation of you.


7 We will pass through thy land, we will go along by the highway: we will not turn aside neither to the right hand nor to the left.


7 And Jacob came to Socoth: where having built a house, and pitched tents, he called the name of the place Socoth, that is, Tents.


Saying: If Esau come to one company and destroy it, the other company that is left shall escape.


2 Thou didst say that thou wouldst do well by me, and multiply my seed like the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for the multitude.


3 And taking up his parable, again he said: Alas, who shall live when God shall do these things?


Turn you, and come to the mountain of the Amorrhites, and to the other places that are next to it, the plains and the hills and the vales towards the south, and by the sea shore, the land of the Chanaanites, and of Libanus, as far as the great river Euphrates.


Full of clamour, a populous city, a joyous city: thy slain are not slain by the sword, nor dead in battle.


5 For behold I have made thee a little one among the nations, despicable among men.


Dividing all by lot, as the Lord had commanded by the hand of Moses, to the nine tribes, and the half tribe.


3 And Joab the son of Sarvia, and the servants of David went out, and met them by the pool of Gabaon. And when they were come together, they sat down over against one another: the one on the one side of the pool, and the other on the other side.


2 And he said: Thou shalt not kill them: for thou didst not take them with thy sword, or thy bow, that thou mayst kill them: but set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, and go to their master.


8 Sadoc also a young man of excellent disposition, and the house of his father, twenty-two principal men.


Thy throat like the best wine, worthy for my beloved to drink, and for his lips and his teeth to ruminate.
