In the three and twentieth year of Joas son of Ochozias king of Juda, Joachaz the son of Jehu reigned over Israel in Samaria, seventeen years.


3 Because of the wrath of the Lord it shall not be inhabited, but shall be wholly desolate: every one that shall pass by Babylon, shall be astonished, and hiss at all her plagues.


And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening, and he drank of tile torrent.


And as they pressed hard upon them, the ancients of Galaad went to fetch Jephte out of the land of Tob to help them:


7 And the plain of the wilderness, and the Jordan, and the borders of Cenereth unto the sea of the desert, which is the most salt sea, to the foot of mount Phasga eastward.


And Moses answered them: What, shall your brethren go to fight, and will you sit here?


As woody valleys, as watered gardens near the rivers, as tabernacles which the Lord hath pitched, as cedars by the waterside.


9 And when he was come thither, Joseph made ready his chariot, and went up to meet his father, in the same place: and seeing him, he fell upon his neck, and embracing him wept.


6 And Juda said to his brethren: What will it profit us to kill our brother, and conceal his blood?


4 And he saw in a dream God saying to him: Take heed thou speak not any thing harshly against Jacob.


8 That day God made a covenant with Abram, saying: To thy seed will I give this land, from the river of Egypt even to the great river Euphrates.


4 And the name of the third river is Tigris: the same passeth along by the Assyrians. And the fourth river is Euphrates.


1 And when he was gone, together with all that belonged to him, and having passed the river, was going on towards mount Galaad,


3 And he took his brethren with him, and pursued after him seven days; and overtook him in the mount of Galaad.


1 And David arose in the morning, and the word of the Lord came to Gad the prophet and the seer of David, saying:
