1 And again: Behold, said he, thou art with child, and thou shalt bring forth a son: and thou shalt call his name Ismael, because the Lord hath heard thy affliction.


2 Understand these things, you that forget God; lest he snatch you away, and there be none to deliver you.


For the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have seen their affliction, wherewith they are oppressed by the Egyptians.


The senseless man shall not know: nor will the fool understand these things.


AND going out from thence, he went into his own country; and his disciples followed him.


AND there came to him the Pharisees and Sadduccees tempting: and they asked him to shew them a sign from heaven.


8 I will open rivers in the high bills, and fountains in the midst of the plains: I will turn the desert into pools of waters, and the impassable land into streams of waters.


And you shall see the breaches of the city of David, that they are many: and you have gathered together the waters of the lower pool,


Thou hast visited the earth, and hast plentifully watered it; thou hast many ways enriched it. The river of God is filled with water, thou hast prepared their food: for so is its preparation.


And he did that which was right before the Lord, but yet not like David his father. He did according to all things that Joas his father did:


And Joachaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in Samaria: and Joas his son reigned in his stead.

Now when these things were done, the word of the Lord came to Abram by a vision, saying: Fear not, Abram, I am thy protector, and thy reward exceeding great.


And the angel of the Lord having found her, by a fountain of water in the wilderness, which is in the way to Sur in the desert,

The Lord God of heaven, who took me out of my father's house, and out of my native country, who spoke to me, and swore to me, saying: To thy seed will I give this land: he will send his angel before thee, and thou shalt take from thence a wife for my son.


4 Where the Lord appeared to him that same might, saying: I am the God of Abraham thy father; do not fear, for I am with thee: I will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham's sake.


And when the Lord saw that he went forward to see, he called to him out of the midst of the bush, and said: Moses, Moses. And he answered: Here I am.


2 When thou hast made an end of tithing all thy fruits, in the third year of tithes thou shalt give it to the Levite, and to the stranger, and to the fatherless, and to the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled:


Let the enemy pursue my soul, and take it, and tread down my life on the earth, and bring down my glory to the dust.


He said to her: Agar, handmaid of Sarai, whence comest thou? and whither goest thou? And she answered: I flee from the face of Sarai, my mistress.


For they have destroyed the things which thou hast made: but what has the just man done?
