The perverse way of a man is strange: but as for him that is pure, his work is right.


8 And gathering together an army, he defeated Amalec, and delivered Israel from the hand of them that spoiled them.


4 Then Josue and all Israel with him took Achan the son of Zare, and the silver and the garments, and the golden rule, his sons also and his daughters, his oxen and asses and sheep, the tent also, and all the goods: and brought them to the valley of Achor:


4 And I said to them: Which of you hath any gold? and they took and brought it to me: and I cast it into the fire, and this calf came out.


6 And Juda said to him: What shall we answer my lord? or what shall we say, or be able justly to allege? God hath found out the iniquity of thy servants: behold, we are all bondmen to my lord, both we, and he with whom the cup was found.


7 Why wouldst thou run away privately and not acquaint me, that I might have brought thee on the way with joy, and with songs, and with timbrels, and with harps?


0 And he said to him: What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth to me from the earth.


3 And the Lord God said to the woman: Why hast thou done this? And she answered: The serpent deceived me, and I did eat.


9 For what cause didst thou say, she was thy sister, that I might take her to my wife? Now therefore, there is thy wife, take her, and go thy way.


And God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and he said to him: Lo thou shalt die for the woman thou hast taken: for she hath a husband.


6 Laban answered: It is not the custom in this place, to give the younger in marriage first.


And they served the Lord all his days, and the days of the ancients, that lived a long time after him, and who knew all the works of the Lord, which he had done for Israel.


9 And may it come upon the head of Joab, and upon all his father's house: and let there not fail from the house of Joab one that hath an issue of seed, or that is a leper, or that holdeth the distaff, or that falleth by the sword, or that wanteth bread.
