Then they, fasting and praying, and imposing their hands upon them, sent them away.


AND there was a certain man in Caesarea, named Cornelius, a centurion of that which is called the Italian band;


1 And they said to him: What shall we do to thee, that the sea may be calm to us? for the sea flowed and swelled.


5 The ships of the sea, were thy chief in thy merchandise : and thou wast replenished, and glorified exceedingly in the heart of the sea.


This man saw in a vision manifestly, about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of God coming in unto him, and saying to him: Cornelius.


To whom when he had related all, he sent them to Joppe.


6 And Japhia, and Elisama, and Elioda, and Eliphaleth.


1 And they sung together hymns, and praise to the Lord: because he is good, for his mercy endureth for ever towards Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, praising the Lord, because the foundations of the temple of the Lord were laid.


5 And they reckoned not with the men that received the money to distribute it to the workmen, but they bestowed it faithfully.


8 Wherefore Joas king of Juda took all the sanctified things, which Josaphat, and Joram, and Ochozias his fathers the kings of Juda had dedicated to holy uses, and which he himself had offered: and all the silver that could be found in the treasures of the temple of the Lord, and in the king's palace: and sent it to Hazael king of Syria, and he went off from Jerusalem.


5 And he said to Saphan the scribe: I have found the book of the law in the house of the Lord: and he delivered it to him.
