2 And the people said to Samuel: Who is he that said: Shall Saul reign over us? Bring the men and we will kill them.


0 So they sent ten thousand of the most valiant men, and commanded them, saying: Go and put the inhabitants of Jabes Galaad to the sword, with their wives and their children.


4 But they burned the city, and all things that were therein; except the gold and silver, and vessels of brass and iron, which they consecrated into the treasury of the Lord.


3 It shall not be chosen neither good nor bad, neither shall it be changed for another. If any man change it: both that which was changed, and that for which it was changed, shall be sanctified to the Lord, and shall not be redeemed.


2 And all the multitude answered and said with a loud voice: According to thy word unto us, so be it done.


4 Let rulers be appointed in all the multitude: and in all our cities, let them that have taken strange wives come at the times appointed, and with them the ancients and the judges of every city, until the wrath of our God be turned away from us for this sin.


When he sat on the throne of his kingdom, the city Susan was the capital of his kingdom.
